What is a “just right” book?

In order for your child to learn to read and progress with their reading skills, they need to be reading "just right" books!

Just right" books are books that stretch your child's reading just a LITTLE bit. Not so much that they get frustrated, but enough so that they continue to grow as a reader.

How do you find a "just right" book?

  • Choose a book you think they will like at their reading level

  • Choose a random page for them to read

  • If there are more than 5 words they don't know on that page, try an easier book!
